During winter, we have many days with a thick cloud layer to fly through. This is great if you are doing instrument training. We entered this cloud layer at 200 feet above the ground, and didn’t exit until just over 5,000 feet.
We just installed the Aspen Primary Flight Display in our Twin Comanche, which replaces the mechanic attitude indicator and heading indicator with a glass display. It also adds GPS steering capabilities to our autopilot.
